Tree Peonies provide loads of colour to garden borders in spring. They have gorgeous, large flowers measuring up to 25cm (10″) in diameter! They can have in excess of a hundred blooms on one mature plant, and will flower every year. Tree Peony ‘Luoyang Hong’ is a cultivar with deep magenta pink flowers with yellow stamens in the centre. It looks great planted amongst other peonies with different coloured flowers. Peonies are a hardy shrub and are disease resistant. The peony blooms can also be cut for vases and look beautiful on a windowsill or table centre. Height and spread: 150cm (60″).

Grow tree peonies in sun or semi shade, in well drained soil. Choose a position that is sheltered from cold winds and shaded from strong early morning sunlight. Add plenty of well rotted manure or compost ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Plant tree peonies so that the grafted union sits at least 10cm (4″) below the soil surface. Shallow planting may hinder establishment and delay flowering.

Feed and water regularly until plants are fully established. Remove faded flowers and cut back old foliage in autumn. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant.
