Even the smallest gardens can have a mini orchard of apples or pears with trees that are compact in size and have the added feature of producing 2 varieties from one tree. The Pear ‘Duo’ combines ‘Conference’ and ‘Bonne Louise’ which have been grafted onto one stem to offer lucious sweet and tender fruit during September and October. Pear ‘Conference’ will be ready to pick first followed by Pear ‘Bonne Louise’. Height: 2m (78″). Supplied as root-wrapped 1m high pruned trees.

Repot duo fruit trees into in a well drained, soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Repot trees at the same soil level as they were in their original pots and firm them into their new containers. Water well and position in full sun.
Feed and water duo fruit trees regularly throughout the summer. Remove some of the fruit in the first year to allow the tree to focus some of its energy towards growing strong stems as well as fruit. Duo fruit trees require only light pruning in Spring to keep their shape. If flower buds are obvious, try not to prune them away as these will form the fruit crop later in the year. As plants increase in size they will require repotting into increasingly larger pots up to 60cm (2′) diameter.
