A welcome burst of colour in early spring, Aubrieta cultorum ‘Cascade Purple’ becomes smothered in vibrant purple flowers from March onwards and is the perfect compliment to spring flowering bulbs such as daffodils, crocuses and cyclamen. With a spreading, mat-forming habit, this evergeen perennial is superb for rock gardens, spilling over sunny banks, patio containers or as a ground cover plant in hot dry borders. Aubretia flowers are also an excellent source of spring nectar for pollinating insects. Height: 10cm (4″). Spread 40cm (16″).

Plant Aubrieta in any well drained soil in full sun at 45cm (18″) apart to form a dense carpet. If planting on heavy or clay soils, dig in plenty of coarse grit or sharp sand to improve drainage prior to planting.
Weed between plants until they are established. Feed and water ground cover collection until it is fully established. Cut back hard after flowering to promote a fresh flush of growth and maintain its compact form.
